Get itemised quotes, not unexplained totals
Ask every fitter to split units, worktops, electrics, plumbing, waste and making good so you can compare the same scope.
Compare appliance bundles with individual prices
Check exact models, delivery, connection and disposal. A bundle may save money, but no universal discount is guaranteed.
Price a cabinet refresh and a replacement
If the carcasses are sound, quote fronts, panels, handles and repairs together. Compare complete scopes; there is no guaranteed one-third price rule.
Show contingency separately
Which? recommends a 10–15% planning reserve. Price known work separately; older or structural projects may need a different risk allowance.
